Replacement Degree Certificates

Duplicate award certificates can be ordered as replacements for those stolen, damaged or lost.

Former students should apply for a Replacement Award Certificate via the Abertay Online Store - https://onlinestore.abertay.ac.uk/

The cost of a replacement certificate is £50 (including VAT, postage and packaging). Proof of identity is required to support your application for a replacement award certificate after you have placed your order and made payment.

There can be only one award certificate in existence at any one time. A replacement certificate can only be produced if the original certificate has been lost, stolen or destroyed and not where it is temporarily mislaid or inaccessible.
Replacements will bear the name of the graduate as they were known at the time of graduation and names cannot be changed retrospectively.

If your name is the same as when you graduated, you may submit copies of the following as proof of identity, passport (personal details page), driver's licence or birth certificate. If your name has changed since you graduated your application must be accompanied by either a copy of a marriage certificate or a Deed Poll certificate that bears the name you were enrolled under.
Please send your identification with a covering note as follows: Scanned copies can be sent by email to regstudentrec@abertay.ac.uk. Hard copies can be faxed to +44 (0) 1382 803059 or mailed to the Registry, University of Abertay, Bell Street, Dundee, DD1 1HG.

Replacements cannot be issued for graduates who received their degree prior to 1992. The University of Abertay received degree-awarding powers in 1992 and university status in 1994. The Open University has custody of all CNAA records – the awarding body for the institution prior to the award of university status. Replacements will carry the following statement “This is a duplicate award certificate, re-issued on 00/00/0000”.

Only one replacement can be ordered and certificates will only be sent directly to the applicant and not to a third party.
