Employers

The vast majority of employers direct students to their website to find out more about their company and its recruitment process, and students can pick up useful material from the Information Room to research suitable companies.  We provide website information on companies in specific industry sectors, as well as links to local and national business directories. There is also information for entrepreneurs about self-employment and starting your own business.

These resources are used in a number of ways to the benefit of students. Below are some examples:

  • Researching companies prior to interview or while completing an application form.
  • Gaining information on a specific sector of the labour market or industry.
  • Targeting companies for work experience placements.
  • Finding out about specific company requirements or sector skills needs, or a company's market or ethos.
  • Researching employment alternatives - self-employment or running your own business.
  • Focusing your job seeking in a local or national strategy.

Pick up your FREE copy of the Prospects Directory and the GET Directory at the Careers Service to identify employers and read their company profiles.
