Entry requirements
The minimum entry requirement is an Upper Second Class Honours degree (or equivalent) at undergraduate level in an appropriate discipline but in most cases, especially for overseas applicants, a Master’s degree is preferred. In some cases appropriate professional or experiential learning may be considered in combination with a lower classification of Honours degree
English Language Requirements
Where applicants are non-native speakers of English, the University requires IELTS of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0) for all research degrees (MbR, MPhil, PhD). The University will NOT accept any other English Language qualification for these degrees.
Application process
A full application should be completed electronically and contain the following:

Once the full application and associated documents have been received the usual response time for any offer is 20 working days. The application is assessed on whether (a) the proposed project and applicant is suitable for admission and (b) an adequate supervisory team is available.
This is a one year (three semesters) research programme, which will be supervised by one or more of our faculty members. Further information (including how to apply) can be found here

In most cases, research degree applicants are expected to source your own funding to cover tuition fees, bench fees (if applicable) and living expenses. Overseas applicants may wish to contact your local British Council Office who may have a list of scholarships available in your country.
