Louise Cascarino & Nikki McIntosh, HN-Degree Transition Advisors
The HN-Degree Advisor is a member of the Partnerships Office staff and the role is to provide support for students studying HNCs and HNDs at our local Partner Colleges as a means of assisting them in the process of articulating to University degree programmes.
We work closely with student support services, lecturers and students at Dundee, Angus, Adam Smith and Elmwood Colleges as well as with other departments and schools across the University.
We were both direct entry students ourselves, having studied at Adam Smith and Dundee College. We then studied at Abertay (via direct entry into 3rd year) and graduated with Honours Degrees.
So, we should have a good idea of what you are about to experience and we understand some of the issues you might come up against.
We are here to support you through your transition, from the moment you start thinking about Higher Education, to your graduation day if needed.
Some of the work we do includes workshops that can help you better prepare yourself for Higher Education. These workshops have various themes including: exploring the differences between College and University; helping you identify and iron out any fears and apprehensions; and giving you a little insight into what it is like to study in Higher Education.
The sessions are always very successful, with students feeling a lot more at ease about the prospect of life at University. It’s then not such a surprise when you get here and you will be better prepared for your learning experience.
There are various ways in which you can get in touch with us. You can email, phone, text or Facebook us.
