Living in Dundee

Dundee is Scotland’s 4th largest city with a population of around 148,000.

Voted the Best City to Live in Scotland by the Sunday Times (2019), regarded as the UK’s 'coolest little city' (GQ magazine 2017) and a designated Unesco City of Design, this city has a lot to offer:

  • Dundee is ideally situated in Scotland within 90 minutes by road and rail to other major cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Under 30 minutes takes you into splendid countryside with hills, glens and nearby beaches

  • Set on a stunning location on the banks of the River Tay, Dundee is the only city in Scotland which faces south and is officially Scotland’s sunniest city

  • With direct flights from Dundee to London Stansted, and the East Coast rail network, you can be in London in a few hours

  • Cost of living in Dundee is extremely competitive. 1 in 5 of the Dundee population are students and the average house price in 2019 is around £149,500. You will be able to find quality housing that is affordable for you and family

  • Dundee is a small, vibrant city on its way to international recognition - it's a UK recognised cluster for digital media, computer games and biotechnology. In 2018, the V&A Museum of Design opened, as part of the £1bn waterfront development, bringing international attention to Dundee
