University recognised for outstanding teaching quality and student experience, with strong performances across a range of subject areas
Abertay University has been ranked the top modern university in Scotland for both teaching quality and student experience in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027.
In the annual rankings, published today (Friday 18 September), Abertay climbed two places in the overall UK table and was ranked 13th out of 130 institutions for teaching quality.
Abertay achieved also strong subject-level results, with Food Science ranked first among UK modern universities for teaching quality, while Criminology, Psychology and Sociology all placed in the top five.
Food Science, Psychology and Criminology were also ranked top in Scotland for on the same measure.
On the research quality metric, Abertay ranked first in Scotland for Art & Design, Business, Management & Marketing, Computer Science and Criminology.
For student experience, Sociology, Food Science and Psychology were ranked the highest among Scottish modern universities.
The latest success follows a series of strong league table performances, with Abertay recently named top Scottish modern university in Guardian University Guide for second year in a row. The University also recorded strong student satisfaction scores in the latest National Student Survey and was recognised as the leading modern university in Scotland for student satisfaction for the third consecutive year by the Complete University Guide.
Earlier this year, Abertay was also named the top international school for video games design by the Princeton Review, with its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes both ranked in the global top 10.
