Strong teaching satisfaction and subject-level results recognised in the annual university rankings
Abertay University has been named the top modern university in Scotland by the Guardian University Guide for the second year running.
In the 2027 guide, Abertay achieved a teaching satisfaction score of 90.4%, placing second in Scotland and delivering strong results across a range of courses and performance measures.
Mental Health Nursing, Biomedical Science, Food and Nutrition, Criminology and Forensic Science were all ranked top in Scotland for teaching and within the UK top five among modern universities.
At subject level, Animation and Criminology ranked top among Scotland’s modern universities.
On the key ‘value-added’ measure, which compares students’ entry grades with their degree outcomes to assess teaching effectiveness, Abertay’s Business Management, Marketing, Mental Health Nursing and Biomedical Science courses ranked first in Scotland.
The Guardian University Guide result builds on a series of recent successes for Abertay. The University also recorded strong student satisfaction scores in the latest National Student Survey and was recognised as the leading modern university in Scotland for student satisfaction for the third consecutive year by the Complete University Guide.
Earlier this year, Abertay was also named the top international school for video games design by the Princeton Review, with its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes both ranked in the global top 10.
