Synopsis

Virtual Reality (VR) games have become increasingly popular over the last decade. It’s no wonder then that there has been such interest in developing VR games. Most of these VR games, however, rarely seem to strive to fully immerse the player by giving them a full body virtual avatar. This project utilises the tracking data from the Acer WMR headset and its controllers, as well as tracking data from a Kinect to develop an Inverse Kinematics system.

I.K.V.R

To develop and evaluate a prototype system utilising Inverse Kinematics to create a player model that accurately represents a player by tracking their movements in Virtual Reality.

Motivation

Exploring various VR titles and finding that most did not offer a full body virtual avatar to the player. Yes, there are various reasons they chose not to and yes, VR is still in its infancy but I'd like to do my part in helping the medium progress.
