Mental Health Nursing graduate, India, now proudly works for the NHS

The AHEAD programme gives you the skills and confidence to believe that getting a degree is an achievable goal, which some people—including myself at one point—may not think is for them. Applying and getting onto the AHEAD programme changed the whole trajectory of my life!
India Dunne | Abertay University | BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing

Mental Health Nursing graduate, India Dunne, made the decision to study on the AHEAD programme because she wanted to change her life. Her mum had previously taken part in the programme and loved it so much that India thought this would be a great way to start her own university journey, and gain the confidence and skills needed to thrive.

I thought the structure and support of the AHEAD programme was exceptional. The night classes allowed me to work throughout the day and we were constantly given guidance when it came to succeeding at university.

India felt better prepared and more confident entering her first year of Mental Health Nursing because of the invaluable skills she'd learned on the AHEAD programme.

AHEAD is something I would recommend to anyone wanting to go to university. I talk about the programme often and have even encouraged friends to apply.

India has now begun her career as a Mental Health Nurse. Her time at Abertay, on the AHEAD programme, then onto her chosen degree have given her a wide range of expertise, allowing her to thrive in the NHS.

I love my job and being able to work in such a rewarding profession is the greatest thing to happen from my Abertay journey.
