Yellow Crow Games announced as winner of Dare Academy 2022

The winners of Abertay University's 2022 Dare Academy games design competition were crowned at the UK's biggest video games expo, EGX.

Yellow Crow Games scooped the Dare trophy and £5,000 in prize money as their game, For Hexposure, was selected by a panel of industry judges following a process of pitching, concept creation, design and polishing.

The awards ceremony marked the end of the annual summer-long Dare Academy competition that has seen talented teams of students from across the breadth of Abertay's video games degree programmes create a diverse range of prototype games, backed by industry mentors.

Ewan Fisher, a Computer Games Applications Development student and member of Yellow Crow Games said: "Working on For Hexposure and competing in Dare Academy has been an amazing experience! Every competing team brought something completely different, new and incredible to the table - each amazing in their own right, and each participant deserves a huge amount of credit for their work and their talents.

"The camaraderie between all of the teams throughout hot-housing and EGX made the experience so fun overall. Working as part of a team, getting feedback from mentors and players at events, finishing it all off with EGX - it's an invaluable experience. There has been a huge amount of hard work and dedication from the team to make it here, but the overwhelming feeling of joy we get when someone plays our game and says how much they love it makes it all worth it.
