Abertay University and Al-Maktoum College forge groundbreaking partnership with Egyptian university

The three institutions will deliver a joint master’s programme for business students

Abertay University has teamed up with neighbouring Al-Maktoum College to forge a groundbreaking partnership with a university in Egypt.

A memorandum of understanding on a joint master’s programme has been agreed between the two Dundee institutions and Alamein International University (AIU).

This innovative partnership provides students the unique opportunity to pursue an MBA and an MSc in business in a programme spanning two years. The first academic year will be spent at AIU in Egypt where students will earn an MBA degree in business.

Following the successful completion of the second academic year, administered by Abertay and Al Maktoum, students will graduate with an MBA degree in business from AIU and a MSc from Abertay. The partnership has been hailed as a milestone in academic cooperation and cultural exchange between Abertay, Al-Maktoum College and AIU.

Students on the joint master’s course will gain access to distinguished and globally-recognised education in their areas of interest, enhancing their professional prospects, and contributing to community development and sustainable economic growth.

Representatives from the three institutions gathered in Egypt at the end of last month to sign the memorandum.

Abertay’s Dean of International and UK Partnerships, Claire MacEachen, and Deputy Principal and Deputy Vice Chancellor, Professor Alastair Irons, attended the ceremony along with Al-Maktoum’s Head of College and Vice-Chancellor, Dr Abi Abubaker, and Academic Director, Dr. Alaa Garad.

Claire MacEachen said:

Abertay University is committed to providing exceptional educational experiences to students worldwide. We are delighted to partner with AIU and Al-Maktoum College to offer students a unique opportunity to excel in their academic and professional endeavours.

AIU President Professor Essam El Kordi, who attended the event alongside three others from the University, said:

We are thrilled to embark on this journey of academic collaboration with Abertay University and Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education. This initiative not only expands educational opportunities for our students but also fosters international connections that will benefit our global community.

Dr Abi Abubaker added:

This collaboration exemplifies our dedication to providing quality education and promoting cross-cultural understanding. We look forward to welcoming students from AIU and Abertay University to our vibrant academic community.
