David Brew has been selected to become the next Chair of Court for Abertay University following an election process involving staff, students, and members of Court.

David received the largest share of votes cast during a two-week ballot, having previously progressed to the election phase with fellow candidates Annie Ingram and Ken Macintosh following a rigorous interview process.

An experienced chairperson with an extensive knowledge of higher education and the UK and Scottish public sector, David has served as a Senior Civil Servant, a Ministerial Adviser and CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, among other roles.

The appointment will be formally confirmed by Court on April 26 with David expected to take up the role of Chair thereafter.

David said:

I’m delighted to have been elected as Chair and my thanks goes to all those who took part in the election process, and of course my fellow candidates. I very much look forward to serving Abertay University and to meeting staff, students and my fellow Court members in the coming months.”

Vice-Principal (Strategy & Governance) and University Secretary, Caroline Summers said: “Our thanks goes to all three of our candidates for taking part, and of course to our staff, students and Court members for engaging with this important process. We look forward to making the formal appointment next month.”
