Abertay teaching quality success in Guardian University Guide 2025

The quality of Abertay University's student experience has been recognised in the national Guardian University Guide 2025.

Following on being ranked top Scottish modern university in the latest National Student Survey, Abertay has now placed 15th in the UK for student satisfaction with teaching in the respected annual table from the Guardian newspaper.

The was further success at programme level, with Biomedical Science and Games Design courses both ranked in the UK top 10 for overall satisfaction and Food Science and Psychology courses both ranked in the UK top 20 on the same measure.

Abertay has a strong record for student satisfaction across a wide range of programmes, with the Times Higher Education recently placing the university in the UK top 10 for 'overall positivity' rating.

The university's Civil Engineering, Psychology, Food Science and Sociology programmes all rank number one in Scotland for overall student satisfaction according to NSS 2024, with Food Science, Forensics, Mental Health Nursing, Psychology and Sports Sciences all placed inside the UK top 10 on the same national ranking.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Liz Bacon said: “This excellent performance once again demonstrates the strength of our teaching, student support and campus culture, as well as the first rate student experience on offer here at Abertay. We’re really proud to consistently achieve great results in these national rankings and this is all down to the fantastic efforts of our academic and professional services staff, whose hard work and dedication is at the heart of everything we do.”
