Matthew graduated from Abertay University with a first class LLB(Hons) (GPA of 4.45/4.5) in 2022. He then graduated Master of Letters (MLitt) in Legal and Constitutional Studies, with Distinction and on the Dean's List for Academic Excellence, from the University of St Andrews in 2023 and Diploma in Professional Legal Practice with Distinction from the University of Dundee in 2024.
He will go on to complete a training contract with the Society of Writers to His Majesty's Signet, where he also works as a Legal Executive in charity governance, after that (2024-2026).
Matthew's current research interests cover comparative criminal and family law; as well as Scottish legal history.
Externally, Matthew is a Director and Trustee of Citizens Advice and Rights Fife, a member of the Selden Society, WS Society and Stair Society.
