Game Design and Production
Virtual Applicant Day

From campus and city tours to information about your degree programme, it's the next best thing to being here

Welcome to Applicant Day

Watch the video and meet our student Shanna who'll welcome you and set the scene for your virtual visit.

Programme Information

Watch the video to find out how designing compelling and functional experiences really gives you the edge.

You’ll learn the core business of being a game designer: gameplay, narrative theory, where game ideas come from and how to evolve those ideas to meet a brief.

In second year you'll work with artists to prototype your own game ideas. In third year you’ll manage a team, just like you would in a professional capacity. The fourth year solo project means concentrating on an area you are interested in.

This course is entirely focused on preparing you for work in the real world, so you can apply your skills to live projects as soon as you graduate.

Next Steps

The coronavirus situation is causing a lot of uncertainty but universities are still working to a September start date. Of course we'll update you as guidance becomes available. Also, bear in mind that when you accept our offer, you can still make a decision to defer (start September 2021 instead) up to August.

The next step is to accept (or decline) your offer. Check the UCAS site for your acceptance deadline.

Once you accept our offer, we will email you about start dates, accommodation, registration and so on.

For more information about the application registration process at Abertay, please see our seven steps.

Ask a Question

One of the best things about being at an Applicant Day is being able to ask questions.

We want you to get all the information you need. Whether you'd like to know more about the course(s) you’ve applied for, what it’s like to live in Dundee or anything else. Use the form to ask us a question and we'll get back to you with an answer.
