1. How to make a request for information

Details of how to request information from the institution under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, the Data Protection Legislation mentioned above and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004. Unless otherwise indicated, references throughout this Publication Scheme to the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 or to Freedom of Information include the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004.

A Subject Access Request ("SAR") under the Data Protection legislation only covers a request for that person's own information. Please note that personal information is exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (by section 38) and is also excepted from disclosure under equivalent provisions within the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004. Please do not make a freedom of information request for your own information: if you wish to make a SAR, please download the Data Subject Access Request Form and send it in to the address above for Subject Access Requests.
